4-stitch right-slant cable

Slip the next 2 stitches (stitches 1 and 2) to the cable needle; hold the cable needle to the back.

Knit 2 (the next 2 stitches, stitches 3 and 4).

Knit the 2 stitches from the cable needle.

The 2 stitches on the left-hand side are crossed over the adjacent 2 stitches to the right.

3-STITCH TWIST

This is a variation of a cable pattern (usually called a twist because the facing stitches are worked as knit-stitches and the under stitch is worked as a purl-stitch). The technique (combining knit and purl-stitches) can be used with any number of stitches.
